When you are hit by the realisation that life as you know it will never be the same, it completely floors you. Both my parents have now gone and I am parentless – I became an orphan at the very moment that my dad died. The enormity of the loss was so immense and, at the time, I felt like my very foundations had been shaken. The fact that natural order dictates that parents should die before their children did nothing to soften the overwhelming sense of grief and loneliness that I felt and still feel. I will never see them again.

When mum left us 26 years ago, dad took care of everything and I was protected from many of the practical things that needed to be done. But this time, it was down to me to sort everything out and I had to learn from scratch and at the back of my mind I knew that probate had to be completed. So I went online and searched under the word `probate’. Well, that was a mind field in itself! And who do you trust to take it on for you? I decided, instead, to speak to family members and friends who had already gone through it and to ask for recommendations. That’s how I came across Jacqui at JT Accounts. Her name came up twice and so I called her. Jacqui had such a lovely caring nature about her and explained the process to me so that I understood what needed to be done. She was so knowledgeable and put my mind at ease with every question she answered. So I chose to go with her. I provided her with the information needed and she took over from there. She made it simple for me and almost held my hand through it all. The sense of relief that I ended up feeling, having gone with Jacqui, was invaluable.

If someone were to ask me for advise on this, I would say to go by recommendation and my recommendation would definitely be to go with Jacqui.

My brother and I found ourselves in the position of resolving our families estate. JT accounts were recommended to us regarding the Capital Gains Tax on the sale of multiple properties. I had three weeks to settle all my mother’s affairs in London before returning to San Francisco, my home.  What should have been relatively simple became extremely complicated by the fact that the Executor, my cousin, refused to perform her duties (closing my mother’s bank account) and also refused to renounce her duties!!!

Jacqui was recommended to me by her sister and I will forever be grateful to her sister for that. This was sometimes in September 2020 when I had some issues with a tax man and was really lost not knowing what to do. The first time I spoke with Jacqui on the phone felt like I have known her for years. She was so kind, patient, sympathetic and very reassuring advising me that all will be ok and whatever the issue I have it will be sorted. Once we started to speak about the tax issue I knew straight away that I am with the right person for this job. She knew exactly what was needed to sort this problem of mine and advised me to gather some documents and arranged a zoom meeting to go over it in more detail. Couple of days later we had our zoom meeting and Jacqui made me so at ease that it felt like I was talking to an old friend. It was quick, it was easy and once we finished our zoom meeting I felt a relief that all has been done and there is nothing to worry about any more and I will be receiving my refund very soon as per Jacqui’s advice. True enough, couple of weeks later I received a letter from the taxman advising me that I am indeed due a tax rebate and a week later this was in my bank. I rang Jacqui straight away to advice as I couldn’t believe how quickly this was processed. I was so happy and I was so impressed with such a great job that Jacqui has done. Everything she said she would do, she did and more. Thank you Jacqui for everything. You are not just an expert when it comes to accounts but you are a wonderful and kind lady. I will certainly come back to you in the future and will recommend you to my family, my friends and to anybody needing a great but kind accountant. You truly are an amazing lady in every way.
